ALGEBRA
In Class: Continued writing expressions, equations and inequalities from the verbal sentence.
Assignment: Page 35 exercises 29-55.

PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Continued adding integers and reviewed the rules for addition.
Assignment: Complete the racetrack worksheet and organized assignments.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students took a quiz over parts of speech and six traits of writing. They also picked nouns out of a poem on the overhead.
In Class: Students defined and discussed nouns, common and proper.
Assignment: Noun packet is due on Tuesday. Remember to read your AR books this weekend!

The HISTORY Experience
Experienced at School: The students completed the Regarding the Boston Massacre and began work on the Learning Opportunity worksheet for Chapter 5, section 7.
Experience at Home: Complete the Learning Opportunity worksheet for Chapter 5, section 7 or be prepared for the Six Question quiz.

SCIENCE
In Class: Step 4 was practiced using the neutralizing of acid with antacids. You will need to come in and run the lab. Lab Contracts were handed out and lab expectations gone over. You need to pick up a sheet, read it, sign it, and give it back to Mrs. Hanson. Lab sheets are on the side counter.

Team 8-4 Teacher Contact Information Cards were sent home with the students. They look like blue business cards. Please ask you child for one.

ALGEBRA
In Class: Introduced writing expressions, equations and inequalities from the verbal sentence.

PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Used integers tile pictures to add integers.
Assignment: Complete worksheets 2 and 3.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students wrote the definitions of the eight parts of speech in their journals
and also wrote sample sentences for each.
In Class: Students discussed the parts of speech. A worksheet reviewing the parts of speech was given.
Assignment: Parts of speech worksheet is due tomorrow. We will have a parts of speech/six traits of writing quiz tomorrow -- notes are in student journals.

The HISTORY Experience

In Class: Introduced integers tiles.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students made corrections and discussed rules for Daily Oral Language 2. Write this down in Mrs. Micek's room
In Class: Students wrote their final drafts using the revisions they made on their rough drafts. These were done in blue/black ink. If students did not finish in class, they are due at the beginning of class tomorrow.
Assignment:. Final drafts are due by tomorrow.

Experienced at School: The students completed the British Acts activity and began work on the Learning Opportunity worksheet for Chapter 5, section 3.

ALGEBRA
In Class: Students worked on checking solutions and writing questions for equations.
Assignment: Page 27 exercises 14-36.
PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Introduced integers, opposites and absolute value.
Assignment: Read page 62-63 exercises 1-22, 26-32.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students discussed procedures for AR and read from their AR books.
Get corrections and rules off the overhead in Mrs. Micek's room.
In Class: Students evaluated two student writings for the trait of voice using a rubric. Then students evaluated their own rough drafts for voice. Students also proofread rough drafts for the trait of conventions and handed in essays for a revision grade.
Assignment: All revisions are due on Tuesday. Final draft is due on Wednesday.

The HISTORY Experience
Experienced at School: The students began work on the History Frame regarding George Washington and the Fort Duquesne incident.
Experience at Home: Please bring your History Frames to class on Wednesday.

SCIENCE
In Class: Scientific Method Steps were finished. We discussed and highlighted the handout started on Monday. See Mrs. Hanson or your partners' sheet. We did the reading on the book on pages 6-12. Check out a book and do the reading.

ALGEBRA
In Class: Students took the quiz, handed in assignments, and filled out the planner for the week.
Assignment: Read and study pages 24-26. Complete page27 exercises 1-13.

PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Students filled out your planner for the week, reviewed stem and leaf plots in preparation for quiz today and handed in assignments.
Assignment: Read page 60-61.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students defined and discussed the six traits of writing. Get these from Mrs. Micek.
Get corrections and rules off the overhead in Mrs. Micek's room.
In Class: In partner groups students shared sentence fluency changes, did word choice worksheets, added transitions using Write Source pg. 106, and made Sentence Analyzer changes to rough draft. They are to show changes to Mrs. Micek on Tuesday.
Assignment: All revisions are due on Tuesday. Final draft is due on Wednesday

The HISTORY Experience
Experienced at School: The students completed the ABC Brainstorm preview of Chapter 5 in class.
Experience at Home: Complete the Learning Opportunity worksheet regarding Chapter 5.

SCIENCE
In Class: We reviewed qualitative and quantitative observations. We also finished talking about variables. The variable packet was handed in. Get yours in. There is a short quiz to take on variables. Pick one up from Mrs. Hanson. We started highlighting the Steps of the Scientific Method. The sheets are on the side counter.

In Class: Reviewed order of operations, evaluating expressions, and powers to review for the quiz. Organized assignments to be handed in on Monday before the quiz.
Assignment: Make corrections in the packet and study for the quiz.

PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Reviewed median, mode, range and stem and leaf plots in preparation for quiz on Monday.
Assignment: Make corrections on the assignments and study for the quiz on Monday.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students read in AR books or finished writing rough drafts of narrative/descriptive writing assignments.
Get corrections and rules off the overhead in Mrs. Micek's room.
In Class: We evaluated our rough drafts by using the sentence analyzer worksheets for sentence fluency. We also added the following on the back of this worksheet. Begin one sentence with an -ing phrase; begin one sentence with a prepositional phrase; begin one sentence with when, after, because, while, since, if.
Assignment: The fluency revisions and sentence analyzer worksheet are due on Monday. Remember to read AR books this weekend.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Choose one event from your list of events to write about. Please list at top
of journal. Make a chart for the 5 W's - who, what, when, where, why. Fill in chart.
Then make a word bank (or phrases) for sights, sounds and smells for some event.
In Class: We brainstormed ideas for our descriptive writing paragraphs, and worked on our life maps.
Assignment: Life Maps are due on Thursday. Signed reading letters are due on Friday. Descriptive writing paragraphs are due on Friday.
