Friday - Oct. 31st

ALGEBRA
In Class: Reviewed finding the x and y intercepts and graphing equations using a table of values.
Assignment: Complete the Graphing worksheet exercises 1-16.

PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Practiced the divisibility rules and finding fractions close to zero, one half, and one. Began organizing assignments to be handed in next week.
Assignment: Complete the fraction strip worksheet front and back for Monday.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Reviewed simple and compound sentences, took quiz.
In Class: Students wrote a creative story using a minimum of 10 simple sentences and 5 compound sentences.
Assignment:

HISTORY
In class: Reviewed online voting activities discussed reasons people don’t vote, and did a political cartoon activity.

SCIENCE
In Class: New grade sheets were started for 2nd term. We put papers into portfolio folders for Sci. Method. The state of matter activity was finished using the letters of the alphabet. Journal were handed in for a grade. #11-#20.

ALGEBRA

In Class: Took notes on fraction vocabulary and relative size to zero, one half, and one. Get the notes if you were absent.
Assignment: Complete worksheet page 66 and on back Worksheet C-24.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Reviewed simple and compound sentences.
In Class: Students reviewed simple and compound sentences and then broke into groups to do six worksheets.
Assignment: Students should finish the six worksheets (due at the beginning of class on Friday, October 31.

HISTORY
In class: Online information and quiz activity on presidential candidates.
Assignment: Interview three people of voting age on upcoming election.

SCIENCE
In Class: We reviewed the states of matter and converting metrics. We finished the reading out of the book on states. We started a chart using the letters of the alphabet for each state of matter.
Assignment: Finish the reading out of the book. Get into a group for the letters of the alphabet activity.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students wrote journal 15 about AR points and effort.
In Class: Students reviewed simple sentence formulas and did examples. We broke into groups to do worksheets.

In class: Students learned about the Great Compromise, 3/5 Compromise, and how our first president was elected.

In Class: Reviewed scientific notation to get ready for the assessment, ans organized assignments to be handed in before the assessment on Tuesday.
Assignment. Finish making corrections on the assignments to be handed in on Tuesday.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: None
In Class: Students worked on descriptive paragraphs. We did a “self-evaluation” and 2 “peer evaluations” and then edited the descriptive paragraph.
Assignment: Final draft of the descriptive paragraph is due Tuesday.

HISTORY
In class: Students finished working on chapter 8 preview worksheet. We read about the Northwest Ordinance and Shay’s rebellion and then talked about them as well as problems with the Articles of Confederation.

SCIENCE
In Class: We went over our Sci. Method Assessments. Papers were handed back, grade sheets recorded on, and portfolio folders added to. All Sci, Method gum experiments were finished with the written part and handed in.
Assignment: Look over the assessment, pick up your papers, and double check that your experiment with the gum was finished and handed in. New lab partner choices were listed.

In Class: Finish working on the Cumulative review on pages196-197, exercises 1-57. Be sure to show your work.
Assignment: Finish on page 196-197 exercises 1-57. Read page 202-206 then complete exercises 1-6.

PRE-ALGEBRA
In Class: Reviewed scientific notation worded on the worksheet review and organized assignments to be handed in before the assessment on Tuesday.
Assignment. Complete Review worksheet for Monday. Make corrections in the packet.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students finished presentation over six traits today.
In Class: Students worked on Spider Words in groups. These were due before they left. We also discussed a descriptive writing assignment.
Assignment: Brainstorming and rough draft of descriptive paragraph due Monday! All first term book points due today.

HISTORY
In class: Gave students back Chapter 7 Test. We then skimmed Chapter 8 and started working on a preview worksheet.

SCIENCE
In Class: Scientific Method Assessment taken today. Pink review sheets and the practice assessments were handed in also. We worked on the conclusion paragraphs for the bubble gum lab.
Assignment: Get the assessment taken and hand in your review sheets.
Journal: We reviewed for the assessment. All late coupons need to be turned in if you didn’t use them.

In Class: Students looked at their 7th grade writing assessments. We are working on group 6 Traits presentations. These will be on Thursday.
Assignment: Work on 6 Traits presentations. Students should be reading AR books for 1st quarter. End of the quarter is October 17.

HISTORY
In class: Played a review game for chapter 7 test (Thursday).

Assignment: Did I mention there is a test on Thursday? Because, there is a test on Thursday. Studying for it would be a great idea!


SCIENCE
In Class: Scientific Method Experiments were finished as far as writing the first four steps and running the experiment. Conclusions and final copies are being worked on. Review sheets were handed out for the assessment on Friday. They will be picked up on Friday.

In Class: Continued to practice writing large numbers using scientific notation was reviewed and we introduced writing numbers less than 1 using negative exponents . We also practiced writing numbers from scientific notation to standard form. We used dry eraser boards to practice before working on the assignment.
Assignment. Make arrangements to retake assessments if you were did not get a proficient score. Complete worksheet pages 3,4 and 5 over scientific notation.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students did a Daily Language Practice. You need to get this from Mrs. Micek.
In Class: Students took notes on figurative language. We are working on group 6 Traits presentations. These will be on Thursday.

In Class: Filled out the planner for the week, returned and recorded the assignment packet and assessment grades on page 19 of the planner. Scientific notation was introduced and we used dry eraser boards to practice before working on the assignment.
Assignment. Make arrangements to retake assessments if you were did not get a proficient score this week. Complete worksheet pages 1 and 2 over scientific notation.

ENGLISH

In Class: Handed in assignments and took the assessments.
Assignment. Make arrangements to make up the two assessments if you were absent. Students who have assessments to retake received a review worksheet today to help them prepare for the assessment retake.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: None.
In Class: Students discussed similes and alliteration. We did a worksheet on these literary devices. We also checked our book points and categories. This grade is on PowerSchool but can be changed up until October 17.
Assignment: Simile and alliteration worksheet due Monday. Students should be reading AR books for 1st quarter. End of the quarter is October 17.

HISTORY
In class: Students played Capture the Flag and discussed how the results of our game compared to the Revolutionary War.
Assignment: Tell your parent you love them!


SCIENCE
In Class: We identified variables and wrote conclusion paragraphs for the antacid lab from Thursday. Lab contracts were signed and put into your portfolio folders. Moon Watch grades were entered.

In Class: Students reviewed for the punctuation test tomorrow. They worked on the review sheet

In class Discussion/video Muskets v. Riffles, military strategy and the turning point of the Revolutionary War.

In Class: Step 4 “Experimental Design” was written out today for the paper towel absorbency lab. We demonstrated several ways to test the paper towels. Lab contracts were handed out. We started the antacid lab experiment write up. We will be working in the lab tomorrow.

In class Discussed how the British almost defeated the Americans at the start of the Revolutionary War (Battle of New York). Also, we learned about the role of African Americans during the war and how Washington layed the smack down on the Brits. at Trenton.
