Tuesday - March 31st

ALGEBRA
In class: Goal: use the quadratic formula to find x-intercepts on a graph of a quadratic function.
Returned in and recorded the CH 9 assignments on page 19 of the planner.
Assignment: Complete the page 33-61 odd on pag 536, be sure to show your work.

Pre Algebra
In Class: Goal: Calculate perimeter and area for triangles.
Assignment: Find the perimeter when possible, and calculate the area using the formula for the area of a triangle. Pg. 414 (#17-25a)

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students wrote definitions and discussed the Elements of Drama (pg. 730) and the Types of Drama (pg. 731)
In Class: The Diary of Anne Frank: Act 1, Scene 1 read in class.
Assignment: Students should be reading AR books for 4th term points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students continued/finished work on their Slave Story & Quilt. This project was started in class last Friday and was picked up after completion.
Assignment: Student that did not complete the project were allowed to take it home to finish. This will be picked up tomorrow.

SCIENCE
In Class: We reviewed the rock families and the rock cycle. We looked over the pink review sheet one more time. It will be handed in on Wed. We took the mineral lab test.
Assignment: Study for the Geology test!! Review sheets will be turned in Wed.

Bell Work: Students reviewed for a quiz. They received jag tags for their notes.
In Class: Students took an open notes quiz over “Nazi Terror,” “Franks Go Into Hiding,” and “Who Are the People in the Secret Annex” today. We introduced Anne Frank and assigned parts for the play.
Assignment: Students should be reading AR books for 4th term points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students continued work on their Slave Story & Quilt. This project was started in class last Friday and will be continued in tomorrow.

SCIENCE
In Class: We tested a mineral and reviewed how to use its’ properties to name it. The lab test for this is tomorrow. We read about and drew out the rock cycle. We also worked with the pink review sheets. We will finish the review tomorrow, take the lab test, and finish the written test on Wed.
Assignment: Get caught up on the review notes and the rock cycle. The reading is on page 90-92.
Journal: Fill out your planner for the week. Start studying the pink review sheet for the test coming up.

In Class: Goal: Prepare for the Polygon quiz and organized assignments.
Assignment: Study for polygon quiz and have assignments ready to hand in if you were absent.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students reviewed for quiz today.
In Class: Students took a quiz over “Franks Suffer” nonfiction article. We began reading and outline “Nazi Terror” article.
Assignment: Students should be reading AR books for 4th term points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students read section 20.10 in the textbook and discussed Slave Churches. We looked at the reasons slaves were forced to attend church and the “invisible churches” they created. Students were given a study guide that is to be completed and used for the assessment tomorrow in class.
Assignment: History Project Plan is due Friday

SCIENCE
In Class: We did the Metamorphic lab simulation today. There is a worksheet to answer questions as the lab is done. We started identifying the Met. Family samples.

In Class: Goal: Classify polygons and calculate shape’s perimeter
Assignment: WS CC-15 and CC-27

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students shared their writing paragraphs with other students and got signatures.
In Class: We finished taking notes on “Franks Suffer Persecution in Germany” and handed in the writing assignment. Students were put into partner groups and received a nonfiction article to summarize.
Assignment: “Franks Suffer” quiz on Thursday. Students should be reading AR books for 4th term points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students completed an anticipatory guide (worksheet) about slave families and recreation. Students then read sections 20.8 & 20.9 in the textbook (p.279 – 280). Students then discussed and brainstormed ideas for final history project.
Assignment: History Project Plan is Due Friday

SCIENCE

In Class: We read the nonfiction article “Franks Suffer Persecution in Germany” and took notes in groups. We also discussed writing assignment.
Assignment: Holocaust paragraph writing assignment due tomorrow. Students should be reading AR books for 4th term points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students were given back their quizzes from last Friday. After discussing the quiz, students completed a cause and effect flow chart (2 total) and reviewed section 20.7 in the textbook (runaway slaves).

SCIENCE
In Class: Sedimentary family notes were taken. We reviewed minerals, crystals, and the rock families. Be sure to do your journal entry. Grade sheets were updated. Ask for your papers. New grade sheets are on the side counter.

In Class: Students read and discussed section 20.6 & 20.7 in the textbook (controlling slaves and the slave resistance to slavery). Next, students were read a situation and had to decide what vocabulary word was related to the example.

In Class: Igneous rock family was finished. We took notes and gave uses for each rock identified on the data sheet. We started the reading on the Sedimentary family.

In Class: Students read and discussed section 20.4 and 20.5 in the textbook. We looked at the daily life of a slave and the clothing and food allowances given to slaves. Students completed a time chart and clothing chart comparing their lives to slaves.

SCIENCE
In Class: Rock family data sheets were worked on. We finished the family name and the characteristics. We started working on the Igneous family for names. You have three pages to read in the book. Pages 94-96 to do the pre reading activity.

In Class: Section 20.2 and 20.3. Students learned about the treatment of free African Americans and slaves. We discussed the economics of slavery and completed a review worksheet in class.

Bell Work: Students cleaned out their trappers for 4th quarter.
In Class: We introduced the Holocaust and watched/took notes on “We Must Never Forget” video.
Assignment: Students should be reading AR books for 4th term points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students learned about the Middle Passage and the triangle trade route. Students watched a slide show and read a handout and discussed the Middle Passage.
Homework: Students are to fill out vocabulary worksheet (4 words), write description (in own words) and draw a picture or symbol.

SCIENCE
In Class: We worked on the 5 S’s and their definitions. We reviewed minerals and their properties and introduced the three rock families. Solubility Activity was finished. We will hand them in on Tuesday.
Assignment: Using the graph, finish questions 9-12 on the solubility activity.

In Class: Students worked on a 6-page review for Assessment 8.1.4.
Assignment: The 9-page 8.1.4 Assessment on Wednesday, March 4th! Students should be reading AR books for 3rd term points. Book points are due by March 5th!

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Video: Slavery Throughout History. Students took notes on how slavery has changed over the ages.

SCIENCE
In Class: We finished the crystal notes. Alum labs were discussed, questions finished, and it was handed in. Get yours done. Crystal recipes were handed out. They are on the side counter if you would like any of them. We did the reading on crystals. You will need to read and hilight.
Assignment: Last few days to look at Taurus the Bull for the constellation of the month. Get your alum labs in.

In Class: Goal: Use dimensional analysis to convert square units.
Assignment: Complete the Dimensional Analysis IV worksheet, show your work.

ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students practiced Assessment 8.1.4 terms using flashcards.
In Class: Students worked on the 9-page “White Umbrella” packet.
Assignment: The 9-page “White Umbrella” packet was discussed at the beginning of class and turned in. A quiz was taken over “White Umbrella.” 8.1.4 Assessment on Wednesday, March 4th! Students should be reading AR books for 3rd term points. Book points are due by March 5th!

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students completed a prediction guide over chapter 19.8 & 19.9. Students then read and discussed the answers and checked their predictions.

SCIENCE
In Class: We took notes on how crystals grow. We went to the lab and looked at the crystals we put together on Thursday. Come in and look at the crystals.
Assignment: Last few days to look at Taurus the Bull for the constellation of the month.
Journal: Fill out your planner for the week. Pick up your work handed back and get it recorded on your teal grade sheet.
