ALGEBRA
In class: Introduced writing expressions, equations or inequalities given the verbal model.
Assignment: Pages 35, exercises 1-28.

Pre Algebra
In Class: Introduced integer tiles.
Assignment: Complete worksheet # 1 front and back.
English
Bell Work: Students filled out planners for the week.
In Class: We reviewed the AR program and writing bingo. The short story unit was introduced and we took a literary term pre-test using the short story “Little Red Riding Hood.”
Assignment: Personal narratives were due today. First square of writing bingo due Sept. 4. Begin reading Independent Reading books for 1st quarter points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students read p. 54 – 56 in class. Students should be able to explain colonial social classes and describe Puritan churches.
Assignment: Students were handed a guided reading worksheet. Many students completed the activity in class. Those that did not complete the activity will finish as homework.

SCIENCE
In Class: Vocabulary was worked on for the Astronomy terms. We will finish those up tomorrow. We reviewed the information on the HR Diagram. Grade sheets were filled in for your first four grades.
Assignment: Get any make up work in. Get out and look at the stars!!
Journal: Fill out your planner for the week. Journal #4. See attached sheet.

Assignment: Pages 27-30 exercises 14-68 even, 69-76. Be sure to show your work

Pre Algebra
In Class: Introduced integers, absolute value and opposites.
Assignment: Page 62-63 ( 1-22,26-32)
English
Bell Work: Students did journal 2.
In Class: Students discussed writing bingo and organized our packet. We handed in our personal narrative.
Assignment: Personal narratives due. First square of writing bingo due Sept. 4. Begin reading Independent Reading books for 1st quarter points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students took a quiz over chapter 4.1 – 4.5.
Assignment: Tell your family you love them.

SCIENCE
In Class: We finished the sun facts information and handed that sheet in. We did some reading on black holes. We filled in some of the definitions in journal #2. 8th period finished the questions on the HR Diagram and handed that in.
Assignment: All grids should be done. Finish answering the questions.
Get out and look at the stars!!
Journal: See attached sheet. All parent constellation letters should be in by now.

ALGEBRA
In class: Handed in assignments, reviewed and took the quiz.
Assignment: Read pages 24-26, on page 27 complete 1-13 for Thursday.

Pre Algebra
In Class: 2nd and 3rd period classes met today, reviewed mean, median, mode, range, and stem and leaf plots in preparation for the quiz. Assignments were organized to be handed in on Thursday.

Assignment: Finish corrections in the packet to be handed in on Thursday, be able to explain how to find the mean, median, mode and range.

English
Bell Work: Students filled out a self-evaluation on their life maps.
In Class: Students discussed personal narratives. We read samples of personal narratives and did a brainstorming activity for a personal narrative.
Assignment: Life Maps due Today! Brainstorming worksheet due. Begin reading Independent Reading books for 1st quarter points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students should be able to describe crime and punishment during colonial America. We read section 4.5 in the textbook and looked at web sources for the Salem Witch Trials.
Assignment: Chapter 4 Vocabulary: Word, definition, picture, sentence (6 words total).

SCIENCE
In Class: All gridding was finished on the HR Diagram. We worked on parts 4,5, and 6. All questions should be finished and the packet ready to hand in.
Assignment: All grids should be done. Finish answering the questions.
Get out and look at the stars!!
Journal: Entry #3. See attached sheet. All parent constellation letters should be in by now.

Bell Work: Students filled out their planners and discussed MAP testing.
In Class: Students worked on their life maps.
Assignment: Life Maps due Tuesday. Begin reading Independent Reading books for 1st quarter points.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students read section 4.4 in the textbook, took notes on packet (1st page only). Describe the importance of rights to the colonists.
Assignment: Chapter 4 Vocabulary: Word, definition, picture, sentence (6 words total).

SCIENCE
In Class: We worked on the HR Diagram. Color-coding was finished and we are gridding the stars.
Assignment: Finish putting the stars on the grid sheet. Get out and look at the stars!!

In Class: Reviewed stem and leaf plots.
Assignment: Make corrections on page 25-26, exercises 1-4, 8-10. Complete the worksheet Practice 1-5, exercises 1-3, 5-6, be sure to show your work on a separate sheet of paper.

English
Bell Work: Students wrote life events in complete sentences.
In Class: Students handed in purple independent reading sheets. We worked on rough drafts of our life maps. Bring pictures for Monday.
Assignment: Life Maps due Tuesday. Return purple book point sheet to Mrs. Micek by Friday for a homework grade.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students read section 4.1 – 4.3 in the textbook during class. Students should be able to describe life on colonial farms and cities.
Assignment: If not completed- cover textbooks, timeline (11 events 5 questions) and getting to know textbook WS.

SCIENCE
In Class: No Journal questions.

Please cover you algebra book.

In Class: Introduced stem and leaf plots.
Assignment: Make corrections on Practice worksheet 1-4, exercises 1-10. Complete Page 25-26 exercises 1-4, 8-10. Continue to show your work on a separate sheet of paper.

English
Bell Work: Students finished discussing procedures for English.
In Class: Students did a brainstorming activity for life maps. We worked on putting our life events in chronological order.
Assignment: Ten events due tomorrow. Return purple book point sheet to Mrs. Micek by Friday for a homework grade.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students continued timeline review and practice. Students defined, compared and contrasted B.C/B.C.E, A.D/C.E. Students practiced figuring amount of time between 2 given events in a timeline.
Assignment: If not completed- cover textbooks, timeline (11 events 5 questions) and getting to know textbook WS.

SCIENCE
In Class: Complete the Journal questions.

In Class: Covered books in class today, reviewed mean, median, mode, and range.
Assignment: Make corrections on page 22 exercises 1-6. Complete the Worksheet Practice 1-4 exercises 1-10. Show your work on a separate sheet of paper.

English
Bell Work: Students did Journal 1 about life events.
In Class: Students discussed the rules and procedures for English class.
Assignment: Journal 1 is due tomorrow. Return purple book point sheet to Mrs. Micek by Friday for a homework grade.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students did their FQ: What is the purpose of the Glossary, Index and Table of Contents? Students practiced plotting historical events on a time line and then asking 4 questions about that timeline.
Assignment: Make a timeline of yourself from birth to the present including 11 events. Write 5 questions about your timeline.

SCIENCE
In Class: We introduced the “Constellation of the Month” today. We talked about how to find the stars and what information you need. Parent letters were sent home to be signed and brought back by Friday.
Assignment: Get your parent letter signed. Get out and look a the stars!!

Assignment: Pages 6-8, 20-30 even, 31-39, 44-47 Be sure to show your work using the 3-step process for evaluating expressions. Please cover you algebra book.

In Class: Books were handed out and students filled out cards listing the book conditions. Notes were taken on mean, median, mode and range.
Assignment: Complete page 22 exercises 1-6 Please cover your math book.
ENGLISH
Bell Work: Students received their numbers for English class.
In Class: Students discussed the Independent Reading program and were given their book points. We went to the media center to check out books.
Assignment: Return purple book point sheet to Mrs. Micek by Friday for a homework grade.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students discussed potential bias in history. Students checked out textbooks and started working on a worksheet (Getting to Know your Book).
Assignment: Complete worksheet *Due Tomorrow



SCIENCE
In Class: We worked on how to do a journal entry today. Journals and folders were set up for science class for the year. We started the discussion on the stars and constellations.
