ALGEBRA
In class: Practiced solving linear systems of equations with one solution, no solution, and an infinite number of solutions.
Assignment: Complete the Chapter Review Games worksheet page 94.

Pre Algebra
In Class: Students solved percent problems involving graphs. They were trying to find the missing answer as in “What percent of 120 = 45”? Be sure to round your percent to the nearest tenth of a percent.
Assignment: Complete the worksheet using the graph which was handed out today.

English
Bell Work: Students shared essays.
In Class: Students finished peer-evaluating restaurant essays in groups and shared results with others. We worked on our creative writing journals.
Assignment: Creative Writing packets due on Feb. 1. Read AR books for 3rd term points. State writing assessment will be February 4th and 5th.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students should be able to explain why the battle of New Orleans was a significant victory for the US and list the important effects of the War of 1812. Students took notes as they watched the video.

In Class: We watched an adverb powerpoint and did examples from the book. We evaluated writing samples. We handed in our different leads for essay.

The HISTORY Experience
In Class: Students completed a geography activity involving that will better help us understand the foreign policy of the US under the Washington administration. Students also completed a vocabulary activity for the following words- Foreign Policy, Neutrality and Isolationism.
Assignment: Students will create a 3-panel comic strip about a concept or event discussed in chapter 11. *Ninja Level- take concept or event and apply it to the United States today.

Science:
In class: Brochure Tour was finished and all elements were checked for the correct family placement. We added categories to our element lists in the journals. Element posters were started.
Assignment: Finish your brochure tour and add to the elements that you find you use in your life. Which ones are you learning about that affect your life? Make a list of at least 10. Get your six categories picked.

In class: Papers were handed back today including your element quiz. We recorded grades on the new grade sheet. Finished brochures were checked and we went over the rubric for the final grade. The rest of the time was in the computer lab cleaning up our document folders, downloading fixed brochure information, and studying current events. (Haiti earthquake and the cadmium element news.)

In Class: Students discussed what type of people Thomas Jefferson (Democratic-Republican party) believe should rule our county… and why? Then we watched a video entitled “The Presidents” from the History channel. In this video the students took notes on Washington, J. Adams, and Jefferson. They had to list at least five interesting facts on each President. We covered Washington and Adams today, and will continue tomorrow with Jefferson.
Assignment: Students need to finish Presidential notes if they did not complete in class.

Science:
In class: Electron Shell lab sheets were finished and handed in. Quiz was taken over the periodic table today. Schedule a time to make it up.
Assignment: Finish your conclusions on your lab and hand it in. Quiz to take.

History
In Class: Students discussed the 2 precedents set by George Washington as he served as our first President. Then the students answered six questions while examining the role of Alexander Hamilton and the Federalists in the development of our country. If the students finished prior to the end of class they worked on their reading note packet for Chapter 11, section 4. No homework was assigned.

Science
In Class: We reviewed for the quiz which will be on Wednesday over element symbols, parts of the atom, and how to build an electron shell. Work on the sheets attached to help you. Be sure to do your journal assignment as well.
Journal: #24 Sheet attached. Fill out your planner for the week.
Assignment: Keep studying symbols and finish your Atoms 2 worksheet. It was handed in and checked.
